Rendering and getting a completely white face and body

I am trying to render my genesis 2 model in 3d delight and I am getting a white flat image of the face and body but the clothing is rendering ok.

What is going on?  It works in Iray but this takes ages to render.

thanks

    A few questions ahead:

    • The surface of the G2 has not been converted to use with iray, and/or is a 3Delight surface?
    • Have you tried: Saving the scene, closing DAZ Studio, restarting it and reloading the scene? Does the error still appear then?
    • What lights are you using?
  • Are you getting any error messages about the shader interface? Check Help>Troubleshooting>View log file, scrolling to the end after rendering. If so it's probably the failure to correctly compile the AoA SSS shader - restarting DS will fix it, but a quicker fix is to go to your temp folder (Edit>Preferences and hold down the ctrl key while clicking the ... button for temporary files for Windows, DAZ Studio>Preferences and hold the cmd key while clicking the ... button fro Mac) and then in \Shader\Brickyard delete everything, then restart the render.

Obviously, you've been using the program too long...it's a quick way to lower your hair count. And Blender has more...cheeky

  • Thank you.  Closing and restarting did the trick.  I was using belle, gingersnap and some older renders together

    cheers

    Nice composition!

One question... Did you render without lights? Was that intended? Also, one suggestion, I'd put in a slight "Depth of Field" effect, so that the tree and background become a little bit blurred. It creates a sense of depth, and also puts the focus on the character.

  • White models means you're out of memory for the textures. Restart the app. 3DDelight doesn't always free up the memory properly.

Actually, it's more often the mess up on compiling the AoA shader...in 3DL, if the shader isn't 'found' the 'default surface' is used...which is basically a Blinn diffuse shader with a value of 1 1 1 in the diffuse channel.

  • Thanks for the tips.  Greaty appreciated! The composition is so much better with the lighting and blur
