AFAIK  you can uninstall DS using DIM,  as long as you installed it using DIM

  • I already done with DIM, they are just for contents but the rest of them are still in my computer. I want them gone.

  • I mean... What kind of software that has no proper uninstaller?  Not cool!

  • DS does hae an unisntaller - if you installed using the standalone executable there will be an unisntaller in the Start menu group (for Windows), if you installed using DIM then select it in the Installed tab and click Process Queue.

  • Richard.  Nope, there is "NO" uninstaller in the uninstall program, in the start menu group nor in the program folders.  I have DIM ready and there is NO option to get rid of them beside I got rid of contents, that was it.

  • There are stuff in there at C:/Users/Public/Documents/DAZ 3D/InstallManager/Downloads.  Can't I delete them manually?

  • Those are the downloaded zips from which your content was installed - you can select them in DIM's Installed or ready to Install tabs, right-click, and delete or you can simply delete them from a standard OS file browser.

  • There are other files are stuckin' in the folders without uninstaller.  I want a CLEAN uninstaller.   I need an instruction how to remove them properly or a file that will wipe Daz 3d things out!  DIM isn't.

  • This forum is the slowest and... not much helpful right here.

  • I've had a quick look around on my system and it seems there are 3 places Studio puts itself into. After running the remove in DIM: go to Installed in DIM, put the tick in front of DAZ Studio 4.9 and click on Start Queue, check in these directories.

The first is the install directory, the default would be C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4. The second is in C:\ProgramData\DAZ 3D\Studio4 Public Build and/or just Studio4. The third is in your User directory under c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4 Public Build and/or Studio4. I would think that if you want to remove Studio, you just delete the Studio4 folders in these directories, if they still have content after removal via DIM, which should wipe out all settings and allow you to do a clean install either via the install Manager or by downloading the manual installer from the website. Oh and make sure you've got a good backup before deleting anything, you never know.

Hope that helps and good luck.

  • What are you finding left? Uninstalling won't, and shouldn't, remove user settings files so those you will need to deal with manually - the same applies to registry settings.

  • Hi Richard,

I was just posting the directories for Givoria that he/she can check in there after removing via DIM or using the uninstaller to make sure everything relevant is gone, which seems to me what Givoria wants. As for not removing user settings, that makes sense as you probably want to keep those for a reinstall.

Thank you so much, cybernut0982!!!  You are truly amazing and a great helper!

Dude, you are not very much helpful since I asked you.  And now you knew what I was talking about?  What's going on with you, player?  If you knew then you should have been answering me earlier which you didn't, you let me hanging here all alone, cold and pissed.  You enjoy huh?  *look down at you*  My gawd, Richard... really?  Lazy is no room for here if you hop here!  Please try to follow cybernut0982's example as to be more helpful next time, Richard.  Kay?  Thanks.  *arm around cybernut's neck*  You rulez, cybernut!

Now,  I will have to work on registery later.  :)
    Bye, children!

P.S.  Hope you will have lots of good karma in the future, cybernut.. You da man!

  • As dumb as it sounds, you need to install Daz Central to uninstall Daz Studio

Clever idea, but unfortunately even that is not working. Indeed there is a drop-down uninstall button on Daz Central dashboard, but when I pressed it, instead of uninstalling, the program started installing itself again !?

How did you install initially? Installing Daz Central, if that wasn't used, is not the solution.

Best uninstaller I've used for years : Revo Uninstaller. No need to watch the content as it's being installed. You simply right lick on a folder in your hard drive > Uninstall with Revo, and it'll list the Windows Registry entries and folders/files related to that folder. Ultra efficient really.

Revo will not even see DS if it was installed with DIM or Central.

  • I always did a manual uninstall of Daz directories and reg entries. It takes a while. Restart do a search of your computer for DAZ. Don't forget to search hidden files and folders also. Select all and delete. This will delete all forms of installers DIM and Daz Central and any downloads of the installers and all content. Most free reg cleaners will clean your registry up for the missing file associations of Daz.
