Do I need all the 'required products' or just the ones for the model I am using?

I have noticed when looking at some older items that sometimes it has a long list of required products.  Sometimes I own some of them but am not really interested in using the item except with my genesis 3 models.  Do I need all the required products or just the ones for the genesis 3 model?  Here is an example  http://www.daz3d.com/iray-princesses-part-1-world

It has a formidable list of items needed and once I've purchased all of that I could just buy a brand new item from daz that does not have required products.  Do I really need the two products that are for the genesis 2 model or can I leave those ones out?

You don't need all of them, the product works with all of them but you only need the ones for the figure you 're using.

It depends on the product, however required products are not always needed, only sometimes.

Double-check with support or somebody who owns this product, but I would assume that since it is a material set, it probably has materials for the MFD, the cloak, the mask, and the collar but if you only own one of those products and want the materials for that, that's fine.  You get the other materials for the other items but simply can't use the others since you don't own the other products you would have applied them to.  But you would still be able to use the materials for the product(s) you DO own.  That is how it has worked with similar products I do own so far.

However, from the product description I see that it does expressely require you to own the three products Princess of Eire 2, Princess of China 2 and Princess of India 2.  Presumably you could own just one of the three and therefore be able to use just the one you own, but would need at least the one matching the one you want to use.

Thank you.  That was what I had begun to wonder.  Usually I get them during a sale so finding someone who owns them would be dodgy for me.  But I will experiment with the things I own to see how it works.  I'm sure I'll eventually own all the base models of the older things but I just can't buy them all at one time.  When I first started I thought I would only use the newer stuff but I often find the old stuff more useful and end up combining newer items with older ones.
