Can't find Material Editor Tab

Title says it all. I can't seem to locate where the tab to edit materials is. I tried the "Shader" tab, but that yelded me no results.

Surfaces
no, I what I'm trying to access is the tab where I can edit textures and stuff like that.
The "Surfaces" tab you mention, and when I bring up only allows for IRay editing. Not for the material of the model itself.
Umm...what do you mean?
It is context sensetive...so if you have Iray selected as your renderer, you have access to the Iray specific settings. 3Delight...the 3DL settings.
Chohole literally gave you the answer here.
The "Material" tab as you know it from other 3D apps is called the "Surfaces" tab. You can open it by going to Window -> Panes (tabs) -> Surfaces in case you closed it.
If you check it, you can find Diffuse map options in which you can apply textures. Cutout opacity for Opacity maps, etc.
