Copy object settings or Exporting / Printing Object Settings? (e.g. Surface, or Morph Settings)

Folks,
Is there some way to either export / print the active settings of an object? For example, I am trying to match the settings of a glove set to another object (a Clothing top). Yes, I can sit down and write down the base color, the reflectivity, etc, etc, etc, but that's slow, and prone to human error.
There's got to be a better way? Any suggestions?
I see people taking what looks like screen captures, is that the best way?

If you have access to a second (portable, or nearby) PC, you could simply compare the values visually side-by-side and make the appropriate modifications in one copy so as to match the other. I can't remember what horrible things might happen if you try to run two copies of DS at once, but perhaps that could be done too.
I don't see this next bit of info being helpful, but perhaps it will trigger other ideas: you can save the material preset uncompressed, then view the .duf file with a text editor (wordpad, etc). but of course it will not be displayed in a user-friendly manner, you would have to have another utility to do something with that data to make that info useful.
And of course if a shader/shaderpreset is used you could simply apply the same shader (if you remember what it is) to the other object and bypass everything. (remember copy/paste doesn't copy/paste the shader, just the settings for it.) Won't help much if it's an image-based texture material though.
