dm legends wand sphere

Maybe I'm just being dense but I can not get the sphere in dm legends to show up, even less to have a flame or any type of glow.  Hoping someone can give me a clue.

Could you give a link to the product?

That set doesn't have DS materials. The "flame" around the staff is actually a sphere using a poser procedural material, so DS can't read that at all.

edit: maybe one of Will's free procedural shaders could work to replicate the effect in DS?

Ah... in that case, the best option (if you are using Iray) is, select the surface, and to go to Shader presets --> Iray --> DAZ Ueber and use an emissive shader on it.

That should work to give you a "full" glowing sphere.

Will's flame does look pretty cool applied to a sphere...

  • Here is the link for you.  http://www.daz3d.com/dms-legends ; Thanks for the advice.  I will give that a try.  Will's flame?

Yeah, either a straight emmissive preset or Will's flames would work on that.

Not sure how easy it would be...if the sphere is a separate material zone or not.  If it's not, you can use the Geometry Editor to create a new surface for just the sphere.

You can also use Jepe's Elements, for example. http://www.daz3d.com/jepe-s-elementz-ii

His stuff is my go-to for a lot of FX, and it's a good start for getting all kind of flames and such into place.

Sorry I have not responded.  I ended up in the hospital and only made it back to that project yesterday.  I had forgotten I'd even posted a request for info.  I think I will probably end up doing postwork in photoshop as I have tried a bunch of emissives that I have on it and they are just not giving me the effect I want.  Then I found out that it is supposed to be a gnarled wood staff so I bought a wand set and stretched one into a staff and added a special effect stone from another set to the top.  I'm just not digging the effect and want something a little more unique.  It's a good placement piece for hand and body position though.

I'm not sure what product Will's flame is.  If you could post a link I would appreciate it as I am sure this will not be the last time I want special effects.

Those are great!  I actually have something similiar to the second one, but so far the only thing I tried with it was to create emmissive dragon eyes.  I'll have to add them to my wish list though as I purchased way too much while I was heavily medicated at the hospital.  Daz shopping is great for helping distract from pain btw.

Thanks for all the advice and help.
