Problem - King of the damned, textureless

Hi guys, I am having trouble with the King of the Damned character and its clothing, they are all textureless when i load them into the scene and they stay textureless when I set a mat preset to them. The only textures that do appear and change are the mouth ones (see the attached render).

Do you know how to solve this?

Thanks in advance.

He looks to be a pre-Iray item...what is his 'base' shader? And which renderer are you using?

Where do i see the "base" shader? I am using Iray, with its default settings.

By the way, it also looks textureless in the viewport, before any rendering.

Select one of his surfaces (Face for example) and look in the Surface tab...up at the top it should say which shader is being used.

  • I couldn't find it. I'm attaching a screenshot of what I'm seeing.

Okay...I'm glad you posted the screenshot.  It doesn't look like the standard 'Default'...which means that it is a custom ShaderMixer network and is not being automatically translated when rendering in Iray.  It probably would be a good idea to create a bug report about this.

It's going to need to be manually set up for Iray...and then presets can be saved out.

Try using one of the Iray presets in the Shader Presets folder...something like Rubber-Shiny in the DAZ folder and adjust the Base color, Translucency color and maybe turn Thin Walled off to expose the SubSurface Scattering controls...

Drop in any Bump or Normal maps (nothing was mentioned about normal maps, so it probably doesn't include any) where they belong.  Put any Diffuse maps into the Base color slot (adjust the color accordingly...like set it to white).

Here's a quick preset I whipped up based off the sort of olive drab promo image...
