Importing objects and texturing in Daz 3D

Hi guys, I hope this question is not too generic. I have got myself quite used to the Blender environment of late, including the Cycles rendering engine. My goal was to create environments and import Daz figures to be rendered using Blender. However, I have found rendering the Daz obejcts to be extremely complicated and time consuming.

So... I thought I might look at working in reverse - using the Iray rendering engine in Daz to render the final scene. Blender for creating the environment and Daz for texturing Blender objects and figure placement/animation. I have been quite impressed with some of the shaders users have been creating.

Question (whew I got there!): in terms of workflow, using Blender to create the raw object - what format should I be exporting the object as? Is there a more efficient format as such? I tried this morning to import several .obj files and they came through with quite mixed results.

Any help would be appreciated :)

  • I always use .obj from blender to Daz, works fine  .. the ambient color is set to white though if you didnt set up the materials first so set back to black.

Thanks for that tip :) I will try further exports with .obj and see how I go.
