Can I transfer My Library from 4.8 (32bit) Studio to 4.9 (64bit)?

Is it possible to copy "My DAZ3d Library" from 4.8 (32bit) Studio to 4.9 (64bit), so I can keep my scenes, morphs and transmogrications. If not, then how to bring in these things?

    Yes.

If you're installing the 4.9 64-bit general release on the same system, it will share settings, including the content library locations.  If it's the public beta and your library is in a custom location, you'll need to go to Content Directory Manager to set the correct path to the library.  When you first launch 4.9 it will migrate the CMS database to the 4.9 tables (leaving the existing 4.8 tables intact).

  • Thank you Fixmypcmike for your response. The 4.9 64-bit version is installed on a separate 64-bit PC, so I must copy the my daz library manually onto the new PC and therefore what you advice is not possible AFAIK. Can't I just manually merge my old library into the new one?

Yes, just copy it to the new computer -- what's in the new library so far?

If you make custom categories or tags, make sure you Export User Data on the old computer before copying over the library, and then Re-Import Metadata after copying it over and making sure DS kniws the correct location .

If you use DIM to install, you'll want to copy over the DIM folders in Public Documents so that DIM on the new computer knows what has been installed.

I have nothing in the new library yet.  Just installed 4.9 and wanted to ask before doing anything. What I'll do next is have Install Manager download and install all my stuff and then merge the old library onto the new. Thank you Sir for you help, have a great weekend.

You don't need to download and install everything again if you're bringing over your old library (although if you have unlimited downloads there's nothing wrong with doing that).

Good to know.  Thank you very much.

True shaders and plug-ins will need to be installed.
