I was looking through Renderosity and came across some cool props and environments but then saw it said they were just for Poser. I know some say both Poser and Daz and some just Daz. Was just curious if there was a good rule of thumb to go by. Thanks!
Short of the few things above (and the newer Poser specific weight mapping for characters), generally even with procedurals, you can still use the item in DS, you would just need to make materials from scratch.

Look for mention of texture maps if you can
you may need to fiddle a bit in surfaces but if it uses textures can load them in diffuse, bump etc.
If it uses Poser procedural textures you are out of luck.
Also things like Poser dynamic hair and cloth do not work in D|S
