Crashing Problem with Iray?

DekeDeke Posts: 1,635

I'm running Daz Studio 4.8 on a Mac Tower 3,1. 16GB of ram and two Nvidia GTX 680 cards. After months of working with this system it has started to crash when I render in Iray. I have a feeling it is the video cards. I've tried turning one or the other off before rendering, but the crashes still happen. It also happens when I use Daz 4.9 Beta. Any ideas on what causes this?

  • The version of iray in 4.8 ddi have at least one crash bug with certain geometry. The fix, if that is your issue, is to update to 4.9 but a workaround, again if this is the issue, is to disable the CPU in Render Settings' Advanced tab.

So just use the GPU's no CPU's?

I tried just using cpu and it still crashed on me. I think it has something to do with drivers and the video cards. Which is  odd as I haven't touched the software on this machine in quite a while. Do drivers just sponteneously go bad?

Test your memory and make sure the cards and memory are seated properly in their slots. Also clean the fans and the cooling fan on the processor.

Yes, if that helps it probably is the bug that is fixed in 4.9.
