How to "Turn Off" HD

Is it possible to turn off HD?

I got some HD figures from the store and my 2GB of VRAM can barely handle them. How do I turn off HD? I've tried sliding the HD morph all the way to 0, but it doesn't seem to affect memory usage in GPU-Z.

What else can I do within DAZStudio to revert them to "Standard Definition"?

Thanks!

  • if the hd morph is not on, I believe the HD is not in play so will not render.  Is it only with the HD figures that you have trouble?  Select the figure and under parameters, look for mesh resolution.  By default it should be at high resolution with a subdivision of 1.  Is it showing higher?

  • For Iray, adjust the Render SubD level. For Octane, Luxrender, and any others that use exported geometry use the main SubD level slider.

I noticed that scenes with HD figures render using the CPU. If I render them by themselves they use about 1.6 GB of VRAM and my GPU is used. The subdivisions is set to 1.

My main concern was that I was just "missing" something. I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for your help.

    Good to know.

    Thanks for the information.
