Iray Sometimes Renders Black When DOF is On

I hyave run into this a few times now in at least a couple scenes, running DS 4.9 on OS X. I will create a few scenes with depth of field on, and all is fine, but then a new scene renders black, and the only solution seems to be turning DOF off. I'm not actually sure it's rendering a black image really, since I'm using scenes with very little light right now, so maybe what I am seeing is an average light level in the scene or something, rendered on all pixels.

Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Update: Okay, it looks like DOF may be irrelevant. Twice I restored my ability to render by switching DOF off, but just after I posted the op (of course), it rendered black with DOF off. It seems to be doing the same thing in 3Delight mode, and even if I turn the camera headlamp on.

  • Update 2: I CAN render an image if I use a default camera, such as the perspective cam. Only thing that has worked in the last several attempts.

I haven't used DOF in awhile, but believe I had same issue, rendered black,  from what I can remember, I had to create new camera, copy active view, name camera dof, worked like a charm afterwards.

  • Oh man, that was it. Thanks so much, I was pulling my hair out!
