Trouble with Morph

Hi. I've got  a problem with a morph I made . Whenever I apply the morph to the face the feet move too. See pic.

I had a problem like this once before and it was because I mistakenly included the pose when I exported the figure.

I did try and turn on Reverse Deformations - in Morph Loader Pro, as that was the fix last time something like this happened, but it didn't work this time.

Is there any other possible solutions?

Or is  anyway I can save just the head morph somehow?

  • Use the Geometry Editor tool to seelct allof the vertices that are affected - this is easily done by activating the Geoemtry Editor tool from the Tools menu, then in the Tool Settings pane click the + next to the foot and lower leg bones (there's no harm in seelcting too much, as long as you don't select soemthing you want to keep); having selected the polygons you now need to select the matching vertices, . Having done that, right-click in the viewport and go to Geometry Selection>Convert Selection>Convert to Vertex Selection. Now in the parameters pane add your morph to Favourites (and make sure there's nothing else in Favourites) by clicking the heart icon on its slider. To clear the morph from the selected areas just right-click in the viewport and select Morph Editing>Clear Selected Deltas from Favourites. Assuming that works, resave as a morph asset.

Thanks for the quick reply Richard.

I got as far as selecting the polygons. see pic. After that I can not tell how to select the vertices. I clicked on the vertices icon..see pic 2. But I don't know how to select anything there. Also, once the vertices are selected is there anything that needs to be set or do you just go ahead to the next step and  right-click in the viewport and go to Geometry Selection?

    Thanks for the help!

  • oops, mangled text - I mean to write something like

having selected the polygons you now need to select the matching vertices, right-click in the viewport and go to Geometry Selection>Convert Selection>Convert to Vertex Selection.

but split it into two (partial) sentences as if there was another step required first. Sorry.

Oh, okay. I'll give it a try.

    thanx

Okay two issues. First I've never used favorites before so  I'm not sure how to make sure there's nothing  else in favorites. I was able to add the morph into favorites however by clicking on the heart icon.

Second I am getting an error message. It says, "This action requires geometry with the favorites morph to be selected in the geometry tool" . So I don't know what I did wrong. I'll send a screencap.

    thanks

  • Are you sure that the morph you have favourited is directly causing the changes to the feet (not through a different morph that it is driving)?

Hmmm. I don't know. The feet move up and down when I apply the face morph I made. The only other morphs that are applied are the v4 base morphs and ++ morphs,

  • Click on the gear icon at the end of the morph's slider and open the Parameter Settings dialogue, then look in the Sub-Components tab to see any properties that are being controlled.

It says no components.. I'll include a pic to make sure I'm looking in hte right place.

I'm wondering, is it possible to export just the head as an object, so that I can import it back into daz with morph loader?

  • With Victoria 4 there should usually be soem subcompoenents as the morphs are on the bones - I had to add those to favourites before the command would work. It may be that when a morph is loaded in DS (I was using one of the stock morphs as a test) that isn't quite what happens and the whole thing ends up betwixt and between. The other thing you could try is using the Geometry Editor to create a Selection Set, then in Morph Loader Pro load the OBJ use the Attenuate By settings.

YES! It worked! I created a Selection Set, then loaded the OBJ using the Attenuate By settings. You saved my Morph! Thank you so much! I was almost ready to give up.

    thanks again!
