Actual Geometry Editing.

Is it possible to edit/morph/modify the actual geometry (vertex, polygon, face, line) of an object (such as an article of clothing) from WITHIN the program?

I've looked up YT videos and a lot of people who use this program, at least the ones making videos seem to think geometry means texture map.

I am looking to change the base shape of objects.  For example removing one sleeve of an outfit but leaving the rest in place, shortening pants, lengthening hair, etc.

Or do I need to do all of that from scratch in something like Maya?

There have been a few outfits and whatnot that have seemed useful with a few minor changes I'd want to make but they're not really worth the purchase if I may as well be doing it from scrat

  • In your specific example you could use the Geometry Editor to select the polygons of the sleeve, right click and use Geometry Visibility>Hide Selected Polygons, then right-click, Geometry Editing>Delete Hidden (command anmes from memory). However, in general DS is not a modelling tool but a posing/staging tool for models made elsewhere so for complex editing you would want to use a dedicated modeller.

You can use DForm which is part of Daz Studio, to morph the item, such as lengthen/short skirts & sleeves, or adjust waist sizes etc.

To remove a sleeve or some part of a garment you would only be able to do that by making the part transparent in the Surfaces tab. To remove it permanently would need it be done in a modeller.
