]Hello All,
I am new to Daz, Just recently downloaded daz4.5pro.First day I was able to use it and I was busy dressing up the posers n creating some. But on the second day when I opened daz, smart content were not loading. I had downloaded some new clothing, hair n poses to the genesis library.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, daz genesis starter essentials, content manangement services etc, did not work. I Uninstalled daz onc e again, then uninstalled content managemnt then restarted the system.Still daz 3d library n sm left over file was there on c drive. I deleted those manually and did a system restore. Then reinstalled daz, genesis starter essentials etc. Now I can see smart content but how do I map the newly downloaded contents like hair, clothing etc to genesis starter essentials? Now I can see my new downloaded contents on content library but when I try to load them onto figure(universal selection tab is selected)it says error reading file. I want those items to see under file n products so that I can load them to my posers.

My seocnd problem is I downloaded daz 4.5pro and I can see my order under orderhistory but when I click on my serial numbers, it says no serial numbers for you. It has been 2 days n it still says the same.IS there a way I can get a license keyfor daz4.5pro?I thought this was a simple easy to use user friendly software, but now am stuck with sm thing which has a "screwed up" content library and a rudimentary draft software.

Request someone to guide me.

Thanks in davance.

Telo

I doubt that the lack of Smart Content is the cause of the loading errors - please try loading something, then if you get an error go to the log file (Help>Troubleshooting>View log), scroll to the end and see if that's more forthcoming about the exact error.

You can restore your database by opening the Content Library option menu (click the button at the top corner of the pane, or just right-click its tab) and selecting Content DB Maintenance, then choosing Re-Import Metadata.

You will need to contact Sales support about your serial number, I'm afraid - it's not something that the forums can help with.

What Operatinig System are you using, it can be helpful?

If you 'bought' DS4P through the store, then a serial number is usually put in your 'My Serial Numbers' area under My Account, I don't know why it wouldn't be in this case, but you will need to write to Support using the link at the top of the forum, they are the only ones who can sort it out for you.

Smart Content relies upon the CMS running to populate that tab. It is controlled by MetaData, and under the Content Library tab drop down menu, there is an option 'Content DB Maintenance' which has a 'Re-Import Metadata' option which should find your already installed content which has Metadata. Not all content has Metadata, but Genesis stuff should have.

@Jimmy, I am using WIN 7 Home basic. As you can see I downloaded daz 4.5 pro for free and some users told me they would populate the license key if you download this.
When I try importing metadata, it imports the same content which is alrady thr on genesis. I want my new downloaded contents to show on smart content so that I can load them to my figures

    HI Telovin

Depending on the "content" you've purchased,... older items may not show up in the new "Smart Content" area... they'll only show up in the Content library.

If you can mention the products you've bought, and are trying to install,. or find,. perhaps we can help you find them,

The Content Library, has sections for Figures or People, and materials,.. clicking the icon for the material won;t do anything since the Figure needs to be loaded into the scene first.

Oh,. and please mind your language. ...there are users of all ages on this forum.

At the present moment in time we have no Content Advisory filters on the site, and as 3DAGE says we do have New Users of many ages, including Younger members who would have a Content Advisory filter applied automatically, had we the filters in place to do so.

WE do therefore ask users to refrain from using profanity please, as it can offend many other users.

3DAGE is on of the Community Volunteer team, that is the team that has volunteered to help people in the forums who have problems, New Users in particular.

Hi Telovin, welcome to DAZ Studio - it's really fun once you get used to it. It can read MC6 and PZ2 files, but if you rename them to DUF it will use the wrong interpreter for those and will not be able to read them. Are you a Poser user? If you're used to the Poser library setup, the DAZ content library might make more sense to you than the Smart Content view. Also a lot of stuff from other sites, freebies etc, does not come with metadata so won't show up in smart content. It's all there in the library, though, if you map the runtime it as a "poser content" folder as well as mapping the folder above the runtime as a Daz Studio format folder.

For the serial number make sure you're still logged in to the site when you look at "my serial numbers", sometimes it's overzealous about logging out sessions.

    Thank you Telovin :)

I'm Scottish , thick skinned, and the language which some would consider extremely offensive,
I see an normal, and I'm used to it.

    thanks for the apology. :)

This is a very helpful forum, and there' a lot of extremely knowledgeable people here,
we'll try to help everyone, ...that's what we're here for.

Chohole is also a celt, ...but with a club,.. and is an Administrator ,.. so,.. be nice :)

As Canary3D mentioned, the library system can be confusing, with both (new) smart content, and the older Content library
, so it's always worth checking both, to see which library the content you've installed shows up in.

Usually, there's a "Read-me" file, which is also installed with any product, which will give you info, and tell you where the files are normally installed to. which can help you find them in the library system.

    Hope it helps :)

@canary3d - Yes I use posers extensively. I am a tagger and designer at some websites. I got so obsessed with posers that I decided to make my own to suit my own image tag and website needs(till now all non commercial use only. But thinking to go for commercial use). Daz studio genesis starter wasn't reading those files, so I decided to play with file names a bit, went to see which file extensions genesis starter essentials were able to read and did it. But after renaming it showed the image on content library. Otherwise it wont show the image just some materials and I wont be able to load the files I downloaded. some cr2 files too. How can I dress my posers and add new poser figures on to my genesis starter essentials accessories??

@3DAge, Thanks for undrestanding, that day was a bad day for me at home i got yelled at by everyone at home(only one person at home my hubby lol, I hate to be told what to do n what not to do :) esp at that time). You are a cool polite Scott Guy :)I have heard a lot abt celts from one of my scott friends.V beautiful landscapes u have got there.
Comin back to my problem I installed it to my library once, I mean the new accessories and clothes and poser deigns and hair styles. I had downloaded those stuff for free from some websites. The file extensions are some are .dsa some are .png. some .duf, some .pz2, .cr2, mt6, mc5 etc. Since it was giving me a haedache by not recognizing any of these(the problem is they show up in content library but the poser refuses to put any of these downloaded hair settings or cool clothes or accessories. :(

    My library looks like this:

    My Library
    -Animals
    -data
    -People
    -Presets
    -Runtime
    --Geometries
    --Libraries
    --Textures

etc. So the DS-only content gets installed in "My Library" and the Poser-only content goes in "My Library/Runtime." You can put DS content into Runtime as well, and generally you will find textures in there no matter which format it is, but you can't mess around with anything in the My Library/Data folder without potentially breaking a link. Poser wants everything to sit inside a folder called "Runtime" so if you move it out of there Poser won't be able to find it, unless you define a new Runtime folder.
