Q&A: Genesis 2 vs Genesis 3

Hey all

I'm very new to Daz 3d and want to purchase and download morphs and other content and was wondering if there anything i need to look out for?

My main concern is the difference between G2 and G3 content can it be mixed and match or do i have to stay with one version?

    Clothes can be converted (using Autofit) from Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 of the same sex, and between the sexes of the same generation. The conversion isn't perfect, in particular any extra bones to help with posing will be lost and parts that project a long way from the body (such as high heels on shoes) will suffer, but it is often functional. Morphs*, textures from Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 of the same sex*, and clothes from Genesis 3 to Genesis 2 (of the same sex) can be handled by add-on products but are not supported out of the box.

    * it is also possible to convert morphs and textures, with a bit of fiddling, using Blender or the like.

    Richard has about covered the main points with regard to cross-compatibility. You should also bear in mind that Gen3 clothing has become significantly better in quality than the older Gen 2 stuff IMO, and also there's very little Gen2 content now being made/sold. Although there's no reason why you can't use Gen2 and auto-fit Gen3 clothing or hair,  IMHO I'd seriously think about using Gen3 as your base figure because anything new from now on will be made for it, at least until a new base comes along.

    Yes, I noticed jump in clothing, hair, and texture quality from Generation 4 to Genesis to Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 but the biggest jump in quality is from Generation 4 to the Genesis. I'm not a expert why that is but it is, something about the way they are made to fit is better.

    I bought g2 morphs I'm quite new and well, i researched and digged around so i made a conclussion, buy stuff for g2 just to have chance to transform to g3 in future, there is more quality for g3 stuff by yes but, for me, living in a place where is not the dollar and my exchange is 1 dll=$18.6 aprox well, I see lower prices in g2 so i can learn to use it and if i stay around and play a lot more (wa surelly I will) I will be buying g3 stuff but is way expensive for me naw XD
