FilaToon Shader and Genesis 9 Toon Shapes
We’re excited to announce the release of FilaToon Shader for Daz Studio 4.23 and Vicky 9, our first Genesis 9 Toon character. FilaToon Shader offers control and flexibility for artists seeking a stylized, cel-shaded, anime inspired look in Daz Studio. This update marks the introduction of Genesis 9 Toon Shapes to the Daz Genesis system – allowing you to create Toon characters with the same versatility and control as our Genesis 9 system.
FilaToon Shader
FilaToon Shader is an all-new shader built specifically for the Filament render engine, allowing real-time visualizations with fast render times. Perfect for Anime fans and artists, this shader brings vibrant, cel-shaded visuals to your Daz Studio creations. With a variety of customizable control features, you can achieve unique looks:
– Shadow controls for defining the intensity of shadows on your characters.
– Rim lighting and LUT support for extra depth and cinematic effects.
– MatCap blending and HDRI support for dynamic lighting setups.
– Emissive and bloom controls to add a radiant glow to your scenes.
– New outline support with adjustable thickness and color options for that iconic Anime look.
While Toon Shader is compatible with most existing Daz content, textures built specifically for this shader (like those included with the new Vicky 9 character) will yield the best results.
Introducing Genesis 9 Toon Shapes:
Genesis 9 Toon shapes are an expansion to our existing Genesis 9 system. With new head and eye shaping, stylized textures, and the ability to alter your Toon character with Daz Studio’s powerful Genesis 9 sliders, the customization possibilities are endless.
Mix and match Toon characters with your favorite G9 characters and experiment with FilaToon’s shadow controls and outline support to get the look you desire. You can even add a more realistic G9 skin and take your Toon shapes into Iray.
As part of this latest 4.23 update, all users receive an updated version of the Genesis 9 Starter Essentials for free – now including base masculine and feminine G9 Toon shapes!

Vicky 9 brings an anime flair to the beloved Victoria 9 – this time in a Toon shape. Built on the new Genesis 9 Toon shape, Vicky 9 offers a highly stylized character taking homage from classic anime and manga aesthetics.
