  • Details

1946, Guadalcanal. With the success of the J7W Shinden prototype for the Japanese Army Air Corps, the Imperial Japanese Navy also embarks on an advanced aircraft of their own. Paralleling the development of the Shinden, the Navy receives possible designs from numerous manufacturers, and finally settles on a design from Mitsubishi as its newest aircraft.

Debuting in combat over the islands of the South-Pacific in October 1946, the IJN`s Mitsubishi A62M Seishin-Kaze ("Spirit Wind", shorted from Seishin no Kaze or "Spirit of the Wind") takes Allied planners by surprise. Much like the earlier A6M Zero, the A62M is a fast and very agile fighter, and a serious threat against its contemporaries in other forces!
