Studio feature request: store file save and render paths in scene file

When working on several scenes often save to the wrong folder. Store "last used path" for scene save and render library in the scene file perhaps?

  • A slightly less radical alternative would be to get the program to save the files in the directory it opened the scene from by default, just like 90% of other Win based programs (dunno about Mac's, never having used one). Either option would be likely to improve the user's mood. Regards, Richard.

Or in a renders subdirectory. All lumped together, scenes, preview icons, renders - clutter.

  • Senes do store their location, and use when saved after being opened (not merged, since then is is not the same scene). Daz Studio does start in the last used directory, for that file type, if it exists and there isn't a stored path for a scene.

  • Richard, DS does start to save in the last saved directory for that type. As opposed to the directory that the file opened from, which is more common Windows Application behaviour. If you opened a Word file from a directory called 'Letters', when you did a 'Save As' you'd expect Word to open the 'Save As' dialogue in the 'Letters' directory not the 'Work Documents' directory because that was where you saved the last file. Doesn't the same logic apply to DS? Regards, Richard.

I see what you mean. You could make a feature request for that, though I can see drawbacks as well as benefits depending on workflow. One potential issue is with scenes from products, where it would usually not be desirable to have user-generated content in the same place (at least without due consideration).

Recommend artists to fill in a parameter for a generic save path, done.
