Hello! A few questions..

Hello!

 

Hello all, New to DAZ and most 3d modeling and Rendering. I have some experience with Blender and Zbrush but have never really made anything thats worth a showoff. A friend who has quite a successful Patreon recamended I learn Daz and well, Here I am. I bought a few items to start making stuff with a Gen 2 base female model (Morphing options and such) and its comming along nicely, But I find myself lacking in the resources department, Are there any good free resources out there to get me started? Esspecialy in the Riske' department? IE, Anatomy bits to get a gal started on her way?

Also a weird thing started happening when i was doing practice Renders the other night, My Iray suddenly decided it doesnt want to render lights anymore! I can make a half decent scene but when it comes time to Render, It doesnt want to display my lights nor make the Render from my perspective camera, its always at a slightly different position than my perspective, IE a lil higher, a little more zoomed. If anyone could offer assistance i would be very greatful.

    By 'Riske' do you mean the Gens for these characters?   These only come with the Pro versions of the Generation 6 bundles, like Victoria 6 Pro Bundle I'm afraid.   For other free resources, have a look on ShareCG, there are loads of free items there.   Also most of the other 3D stores have a freebies section too.

    The render area can be seen if you switch on the Aspect Frame in the Viewport drop-down menu, that will show you the extent of your render area for whatever prset you are using in Render Settings.   As for the lights, what lights were you using, and what settings are you using in Iray, particularly the Environment tab.   There are many very large threads on Iray, and it is quite difficult for a beginner to get to grips with, but if you can supply a bit more info, I'm sure we can help you.

    Thank you for the help, and for the welcome ^.^

    Been wanting to tackle mdoeling forever and with Daz i think I might be able to actualy do something, Another question however I am afraid.  Those wonderful makers of CG images and whatnot that have Patreons, tumblrs and other things O.o do they make their own content or just know the system well enough? I know a few that use DAZ almost exclusively thus my question, Ive done a few tuts and think i  have a handle on the basics but not more than that, Yet.

    DAZ Stuido isn't a modeling app. It's only for rendering. You can add generic boxes, cylinders and planes but that's about it. You will need to get a modeling program

    Nooooes dont say that, Ive tried my hands with the trial version of 3dmax, Fumbled my way thru Blender (Did make an awesome banner for a friend however) And alittle in Zbrush cause well, Clay is fun, But i dont think i could really Make Models by hand, Not for lack of trying either.

    Hexagon sold here on DAZ is pretty user friendly. Those ones are pretty hard to learn.

    Thanks I will look into that! I have a small question, Iam adding a directional light, Aimed at my character set a distance away, I can see the light when in work mode but when it comes time to render it doesnt show and i get the work lamp instead O.o

    Are you using Iray or 3Delight? What lights are you using? Also, if you or anyone else is new to daz studio be sure to type $0.00 into the Daz shop search for free things that dont show up on the free page in particular

    Found out what was wrong had the light moved up to high and ended up beign blocked by the 'cieling' Duh, And thanks yeah picked them up last night, Bought alot of Gen 2 stuff, then someone told me Victoria 7 was better so i picked up her as well only to learn the expressions and other stuff i got dont work on her >_>; Dont suppose there is a refund option? Prolly not. Anywho! Even with Gen 2 using the Expression morphs i picked up they didnt seem to make much of a difference even when made for that model O.o Suggestions? I mean, Face matters just as much as the body, I like the basic look of the V7 but she doesnt have all the sliders my Gen 2 has @.@ So confused.

    Yes there is a 30 day refund option, Click on the Contact Us option at the bottom of the forum, and mark your request for Sales Support.   Give them all the details, order number etc. 

     Gen 2 using the Expression morphs i picked up they didnt seem to make much of a difference even when made for that model O.o Suggestions? I mean

     Which Expressions did you get, and can you please provide a link?   Expressions should make a large difference to your models face.

     I like the basic look of the V7 but she doesnt have all the sliders my Gen 2 has @.@ So confused.

    V7 is a morph of Genesis 3 Female.   G3F comes with some morphs, and V7 has some Expression morphs too, and you will find them in the Parameteres pane under Pose Controls > Head > Expressions.

    You need to know a little about the history of the figures,   Genesis (original) is known as Generation 5, so any figures with a '5' in them are based on Genesis (V5, M5 etc.)    Genesis 2 is Generations 6, and genesis 3 Female is Generation 7.   Morphs and poses are generally not interchangable between generations without a lot of work, or plugins for DAZ Studio.

    There are also morph packages for sale which work with G3F, but there are some which come along with the G3F Starter Essentials, are you looking in the right place for them?   There are no icons in the Content Library or Smart Content, just sliders in the Parameters Pane.

    Thank you for all teh wonderful help, I contacted DAZ a few moments ago and asked about a refund or possible credit / exchange so here is hoping! And the Expressions seemed to be glitched? They worked fine in the beginning but mid way thru they just stopped effecting the face except for micro expressions IE corner of the eyes and lips but none of the major changes, After a restart it seemed to work, may of been memory related due to reworking a render (over a few hours >_>;; )

    Thank you for the info on the models, If i can get the new morphs or bundle fo Vicky I may stick with that model, Gen 2 may have more content but the little I have played with Victoria to this point the way her joints move when at a 'hard bend' it a bit easier than Gen 2's. And Not sure i got the Gen 3 essentials, All I did was pick up Victoria Base and hrm.. Well what ever was free outside of the Gen 2 content i got.

    Ah for Victoria's expressions, I did not know they would be in the parameters plane! I will check it out post haste ^.^ Thank you!
