Facial Expressions with Genesis Models

I've been working on 2 different characters. The first is Genesis based and the second is Genesis 2.

How is it that I am able to control very much of the facial expressions with Genesis 2, down to the brow and curve of the lip but when it comes to Genesis models, this ability doesn't exist. I am able to change the height and width of the nose, mouth and ears, but unable to actually make the Genesis model smile or frown.

Any hep with this is greatly appreciated!

Genesis should have expression controls under Poser Controls with the head selected.

When it comes to things like facial expressions and body poses I rarely ever buy these because the tools are there to create them yourself if you want to. Mostly they are basically just presets to save you the bother.

I think I'm right in saying that sometimes facial expressions will include a certain level of morphing though that the basic figure poses don't necessarily have. So it comes down to personal preference a bit.

Did you 'need' to buy them? No, probably not. You can make expressions yourself with the basic Genesis facial posing (as Richard says, you have to make sure you have the head selected for these to appear on Genesis 1 - that caught me out in the beginning as well).

If you really feel like you've made a mistake, Daz do offer a 30-day money back guarantee, so you could always submit a ticket to the Help center and ask for a refund for the expressions. They will refund either in store credit or, if you ask for it, back to your card.

Thanks for this, means a lot. I think I will go for the refund. I didn't know there was an option to give the models expressions without buying the pack. I somewhat feel mislead, but that's life I guess. It's just frustrating to go through all of this only to find out that the option to do what I wanted to do is right at my finger tips.

    thanks again.

I completely sympathise. As someone who's recently learnt Daz myself I can vouch for how difficult it can be at first to work out what you need to buy and what you don't. I wasted a lot of money to begin with buying things that I didn't need or that didn't turn out to be what I thought they were. Until you know your stuff, this is bound to happen occasionally.

The 30-day refund is a god-send in these beginning days... Just don't overuse it ;)
