I don't want to open up a whole can of worms like questions of this nature normally do, but what would be a good computer setup (processor, RAM, video card) for this software?

    What 3 GHz processor?

How much RAM can your motherboard hold and what video card do you have?

Its a 4 yr old AMD. I was thinking about getting a new pc with an Intel I5 3.2 ghz processer and 12 gb of RAM. Then adding a better video card. Thoughts...suggestions?

    What line...and how many cores?

It's possible that all you really need is more RAM and a new video card...

    I would go i7 rather than i5.

12 GB of RAM is OK, but if you can go 16+ it would be better.

Also if you want to do Iray rendering with any sort of speed (and it will never be 'quick'), you will need some serious VRAM -- 4 GB at least.

For $1200, I picked up a Dell XPS 8700, I7 3.6 ghz, with, Nvidia 740 4gb graphics card and expanded the ram to 24 gb. It definitely loads and saves scenes much faster as well as quicker morphs. I haven't tried lighting & renders yet, as I am still the greenest of noobs and I'm still trying to get used to posing and morphing characters.

That's a pretty good system for the money paid
