Is this the one you have : http://www.daz3d.com/urban-sprawl

According to the Product Page :

Presented as a figure(.cr2), Urban Sprawl's body groups are as follows: •Northside
    •Southside
    •WestSide
    •Eastside
    •Central(contains all of the roads)
    •SkyDome
    •Roadmarkings

Does SkyDome not appear in the Scene pane, if so, click the little eye icon next to it, and that will make it invisible. I don't have this set, so I can't check.

Yes, hiding a bone works for Iray as for 3Delight.

I think it should do, you could give it a try?

Iray also has a Dome, so you may need to go into Render Settings > Environment, and change it to Scene Only, or try some of the other options. I am not too well up on Iray at the minute, but there are loads of threads on how it all works.

Hiding it is fine. Nothing to worry about.

Wait, are we saying that hiding a sky-dome WILL allow IRay lighting to work? And if yes, what about using an hdri in any given scene where that's the case?

Hiding, using the 'eye' in the Scene tab, yes. Hiding by turning Opacity down/making transparent/visible in render 'off'/all those other tricks that work in 3DL...no.

Using the 'eye' tells DS not to pass the item on to the renderer, so, in essence, it isn't there.
