You can do save as... and then select character preset. Or you can do save as... and do a scene subset.
Character presets ONLY save the character -- hair and clothing are NOT included. If you want to save an entire character with clothing, hair, etc, save as a scene subset. Then just check the things you want and de-check the things you don't.
Usually, I create 3 files for a saved character: The naked/hairless "character preset," then two subsets -- naked w/hair, and clothed. Then I load in the ones I need.
Clothed is really only necessary if you are going to use the same character and same clothing in multiple scenes. I am doing a webcomic, so panel after panel often has the same character in the same exact clothing, and therefore it makes sense to save the character with clothing as well as without. But if you are only doing one scene and not re-using the clothing on that character, you don't need to do that.
