Customizing Clothing?

In the past, I have found that I can as jut clothing using a surface image…essentially a jpg file (I assume this is called a texture map). I can go into photoshop, find that file buried in some sub-folder, and change the color or details. Then I can go back into Daz and apply this new file to the clothes.

What about clothes without that sort of JPG surface? I was trying to change the color of…for instance…the lumberjack pants and they have duf files, not JPG files. So I take it these are files of geometry. I don't see any JPG style files in the surface tab. Is there another way to adjust the color of this item? Perhaps just adjusting one of the many Color settings: Diffuse, Opacity, Specular, Ambient, Reflection (what's the difference in all these colors?)

Is there no map in the diffuse channel, if not then changing that colour will alter the item also altering the specular and others will alter the items appearance.

I did find the jpg map in the runtime textures file. interesting how these files are scattered in various files. I think this will enable me to change the color. Thanks for the help.

The texture files are in Runtime/Textures folder. Which one exactly would depend on the item. To find the location, it's easiest if you select the diffuse map and "browser". It will open the folder where all the maps for the Lumberjack outfit are stored.
If you note down the location, you then can go there using the regular file system of your PC/Mac.

For the second part of your question, I recommend reading this:
