Smart content Tab empty

Hello. I am new to DAZ. I am having trouble with the Smart Content Tab. Every tutorial i view uses this tab and there seems to be something wrong with mine. I I have my genesis character selected . i have clothes on her. yet my smart content only says all . and nothing under that. I click on all hoping files or product will drop down yet nothing happens. i click on video tutorials and they immediately start grabbing stuff from their smart content panel. very lost very confused please help. ps the search filter does nothing.

    It can be confusing and there are a couple things that jump out at me. Is your figure selected? When it is, that limits what smart content will show you. Ostensibly this is the help you by, for instance, only showing clothes, hair, etc when a figure is selected. If you go to "Scene" and click in a grey area so nothing is highlighted, the Smart Content should show everything available.

    Another thing I've done is have a search term in the search field and forgotten about it. So make sure the smart content search field is empty.

    thank you for the reply. i dosn't matter what i do . nothing comes up in that smart content pane. it just says 'All' with nothing under in. thanks again. now if i am not mistaken, i dont need that pane , i can get to my stuff thru the other tabs correct? or do i need ' smart Content to work.? thanks again really appreciate the help.

    How are you installing your content? DIM or installing manually? If you are installing manually then you need to re-import your meta data. Also, go into your task manager and under processes look and see if "Content Management Server" is running. You should be able to see content even when your viewport is empty. Can you post a screen shot of your content directory. Edit/Preferences/Content Library/Content Directory Manager. Expand both DAZ Studio Format and Poser Format and post a screen cap here so we can see if somethings astray.

    Yes, you can access content through the Content Directory and skip smart content entirely.

    The problem with that is, if the Content Management Service is not working, then neither is the Search function at the top of the Content Library pane, or Categories, or Products, and a few other things may be affected as well.

    It is best to sort out your problems with Smart Content, and please post a screenshot as Frank has suggested.

    i am using DiM. i am installing updates now. i think / hope that will do the trick. thanks for the help u 3.

    Still having the same problem . Nothing doing under 'smart content.' l installed some content and updated to 4.8 but no luck. and no sign of Content Management Service mentioned in Task Manager Processes. attached is my scree shot . any help would be much appreciated.

    When you run DAZ Studio, are there any processes in Task Manager called 'postgres.exe'?

    If not, then you are still using the old system Valentina/CMS, and you will need to look in Start > All Programs > DAZ 3D > Content Management Service, and start the process from there.

    If you have installed the newer PostgreSQL Content Management System, then you can start it form the drop-down menu in the Content Library pane, there are options to Start/Stop CMS in that menu.
