Unable to install DAZ Studio
I am trying to install DAZ Studio 4.8.0.55 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer. When I run the installer from my download manager if fails with a popup error window indicating "file open failed". I believe that his happened because when I installed Windows I moved the Users folder off the C drive and onto another drive with a link and so I am performing the install from my download directory which is located on a secondary drive and not the system drive. So I tried to copy the install image onto the C drive and run it from there. Now when I run the install as administrator I no longer get the error popup and get a window with the title DAZStudio_4.8.0.55_Win64 which is blank. Any help on how to install this product, if it is even possible, is appreciated.

hmm ... well start by not making things impossible.
Put the real installer on the desktop of the computer you want to install the program to.
Right-click and run as Admin.
Let it install to the C drive program folders.
It is installing a service as well as itself.
It is the content you can have on a separate drive, not most programs.
This also needs to be installed: PostgreSQL CMS
One can download them all also from the Product Library in your Account.
Thanks for your suggestion. If only it would work (I did try it but it behaves that same as an install from my Downloads folder). To be more precise with what I believe the root cause of the problem I have encountered is -- I used the mklink command to create a hard link to "move" the C:/Users folder to D:/Users ... so not only is my Download folder on D:/Users/[id]/Downloads but my Desktop folder is on D:/Users/[id]/Desktop as well (this is why I tried to move the installer to the C: drive and run it from there). In all of my install attempts I did use the right click and run as administrator. FWIW, I used the hard link "trick" when I was initially installing Windows because I was using a 128GB SSD as the C drive and I was looking for an easy way of keeping the space utilization on the C drive (the SSD) somewhat in check in the long term without having to do any management of the utilization.
I have been successful in installing DAX Studio on my Windows 7 64bit laptop which does not have the C:/Users folder hard linked to another drive but I am trying to install DAX Studio on my Windows 7 64 bit desktop system where I would prefer to use it (I'm not even sure that the laptop meets the hardware requirements for the product) but the DAX installer doesn't seem to want to run with my desktop set up. I have not encountered any install problems with any other product in the 3 years that I have been running this configuration and all of my product installs are to the C drive program folders where I would intend/expect DAX Studio to install to as well.
Thanks again for your response.
Any chance there's an AV stopping it?
I had for another program a situation in which the AV {without notifying like I thought it was supposed to} was actually preventing the installer.exe from finding itself. Had to turn off the AV.
I looked into getting a SSD but was told it was not compatible with my laptop so have no other suggestions concerning the transfer issues.
Sometimes an uninstall, reboot, download fresh installer, disconnect from internet, turn off AV, right-click and install as Admin, turn on AV before reconnecting to internet ... works.
Hopefully somebody else has some ideas ... if not, you may wish to contact Technical Support via the Help links up top of the page.
I think the issue you are having is because you used a hardlink instead of sybolic link,,,here's a page with some info on the differences http://devtidbits.com/2009/09/07/windows-file-junctions-symbolic-links-and-hard-links/
Wouldn't it be easier to just put the new install path in the settings for the DIM and for Studio?
