Terry
Hello, My Name is Terry, I've been retired for over 10 years live in the West Of England.
I'm not really computer literate but with Daz it is so easy to achieve my aims.
I've run Daz studio on Windows for many, many years. It is my hobby and make short animated movies using Aniblocks, Puppeteer & Power Pose just for Family and friends and my own enjoyment..
As Daz has become more & more sophisticated over the years I've upgraded the memory/RAM as rendering a movie of 4 to 600 frames took a couple of hours using Basic Open GL, using 3Delight was an overnight job.
In the hope of vastly improving the rendering times I recently bought a 6 core Mac Pro (late 2013) and it had 4GB on each of the 4 Memory slots. I was disappointed when rendering the same movies took even longer. Not being very knowledgeable about computers I had the memory on the Mac Pro upgraded to 16 GBs on each of the 4 slots. This has made no difference at all to render speeds.
could you please advise me in the simplest terms if it is possible to speed up the render times times and even use 3delight and now NVIDEA iray. so that I can spend more time creating than waiting for renders to complete.
Hope you can help.
Many Thanks.
Terry :bug:

Hello,
Late 2013, is that the "small round" Mac Pro or the old alu case? The Mac Pro 2013 didn't really arrive until spring 2014. It's important as the guidelines are very different between those models.
Thanks for your response.
I Bought it brand new in March of this year from my local Apple Store.
If this help this is the Hardware Profile. and Pic.

You would render pretty fast with this one using 3Delight assuming you use normal settings. (I just ran a 3Delight render using UberEnvironment 2 with indirect lighting at 1600x900 and its almost at 48 hours now....
When it comes to iray, you cannot put any nVidia cards in it (and that limitation is not Apples but Intels) as inter doesnt allow graphics cards to be connected over thunderbolt 2.
Do you have a sample of render settings that is slow?
