Missing files for actors

edited December 1969 in New Users

I just downloaded DAZ 3D and i tried to load the actors from the Smart Content > Files > Figures. All of them are missing files and i always end up with a figure that looks like it was made in Minecraft. Specifically, the pop-up window says i'm missing the following:

/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Genesis.dsf
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Morphs/DAZ 3D/Base/FBMBasicChild.dsf
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Morphs/DAZ 3D/Base/FBMBasicFemale.dsf
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Morphs/DAZ 3D/Base/FBMBasicMale.dsf

Here's a screenshot to help.

You need to make sure that DAZ Studio knows where your content is installed to, DIM and DAZ Studio do NOT communicate in any way.

DIM by default, installs to C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library and unless you changed that, that is where your content is. DS needs access to the 'data' folder.

You need to go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and make sure that the path to your content is listed as BOTH DAZ Studio Formats AND Poser Formats, that should sort it out.

Your Library is showing My DAZ Library instead of linking to My DAZ 3D Library which DAZ Studio is looking in if you look at the path in your image on the bottom left.

You need to remove the second entry in the Content Directory Manager, which is pointing at ProgramData for some reason, and change it to
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

which is where (as Fishtales points out) DS is looking for the data folder. Once you have done that, you should have no further problems, unless of course you told DIM to install some files to ProgramData which is not a good idea?
