animation backgrounds

How can you make the background a transparent png with either animation2 or movie maker?
Sometime I just want a transparent backgroud so the animation can be use for other projects
Hope someone has the answer, if there is one.

    What renderer are you using? 3Delight?

    It is the renderer which will determine whether you have a transparent background or not. Do you mean Animate 2? The images still need to be rendered, and if you render as PNG, you should have a transparent background.

    Are you trying to render to an AVI? Most animators would use an image series, and then put it together in a video editor of some sort.

    Thanks very much for taking the time to reply to my question.
    Yes, I used 3Delight rendering and used Animator 2 and also have movie maker.

    I can get the png transparent in still images, not able so far with the avi movie and avi is the only choice I get for video.
    I have been able to import a green background and was able to use" chroma" (spelling) in pro show producer and it can
    delete the green background but I end up with a small white glitter around the model as it moves.

    I only need to achieve a small movement with the character, such as a short walk, head turning and such.

    Once again, I thank you for your repsonse, if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

    As Jimmy says, don't render to an animation file render to an image sequence and then assemble that in your video editor. Using an image sequence also provides protection from crashes part way through and allows you to correct a few frames without having to rerender the whole thing.

    Gotcha, thanks, this will allow me to finish my project.
    I should have used the forum before, didn't realize I'd get this fast of a response.

    Response time does depend on who is on when, but you will usually get help unless we are all flummoxed.
