Daz3d 4.8 lighting question

I wonder if someone could help me with this issue. I had one light source (sun)

The image attached shows the preview - showing the sun on the right side. The rendered side shows the sun on the left but the shadow cast is wrong...

More often then not, the preview is difficult to read. But why would the highlights swap places.

Thank you in advance.

Hmmm...to the best of my knowledge, the symbol you are pointing to is for a distant light for 3delight use, but you seem to want to use Iray. Is that correct? Try removing the distant light and see if it still renders the same.

We’ve also created a pointer page that shows various threads on Iray that have been very helpful. Rather than start new Iray pages, please check these sources first since it keeps the places to look for information simplified. These are also pages where many Iray users have been discussing Iray topics and so may be much more helpful to you. When there are dozens of threads, one forgets where they saw what and information may be posted that is very helpful but gets missed.

Is that distant light specified as the "sun node" in the Iray environment settings?

Can you post a screenshot of your render settings, please?
If you use Sun-Sky, the sun's direction is normally controlled by the Date&Time; of the day settings. It ignores any other lights in the scene.
