Importing FBX to Unreal Engine from 3DS Max

edited May 2015 in New Users

Hello.
I'd like to buy your (DAZ3D) characters, but I was stopped by one question.
There are some issues on importing your default characters (Genesis 2 Male and Female) to the Unreal Engine.
My steps:
1) Export FBX file from DAZ3D (4.7 / 4.8).
2) Import to the 3DS Max
3) Export from 3DS Max
4) Import FBX from 3DS Max to the UE 4.7 / 4.8.

The issue - eyes' textures doesn't displayed in UE 4 correctly - UE4 can't correctly use complex textures of the eyes of the Genesis 2 characters. More info about my question is here https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/229112/importing-1.html

Can you explain me, how to fix issue with EyeReflection and Eye lashes?

I cannot answer your question, but I will take a moment to remind you that if you are intending to use DAZ 3D figures in a game then you will require Games developers licenses for the products. THere is one for Daz Original figures and a few PAs have also issued games licenses which you would need if you use their products as well. Any PA's not on this list cannot be used in games.

I have only gone from DAZ studio to Unreal but I just fixed the missing textures in stuff I imported using that editing room with the shader balls and the node editor after importing the missing maps, with the texture selected you could add it quite easily and reduce the number of textures used by reusing shaders on areas with the same ones.
