Graphics Card Not Listed?

I've got to some hassle putting a gtx 670 into my older Mac Pro (2008). In running Daz 4.8 I should see the card in the render settings….advanced….hardware. But I don't. I just see the CPU listed. Does that mean the Iray isn't taking advantage of the card?

What does the daz log say (log.txt) you find it through Help->Troubleshooting->View Log file?
Which version of Cuda and nVidia driver do you use?

    Latest Cuda is 7.0.36.

    You find Cuda here: https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloads

Thanks…the log.txt does say something about a Iray Warning Cuda module initialization failed. I am new at the process and didn't even load any drivers for the new card. I understood that the os 10.8.5 would recognize this card even if it isn't a mac-specific version. And it did…the card is powering my monitors…but it doesn't show up in Daz 4.8.

For anything more than basic OS recognizing the card/basic functions, including Studio and Iray use, you will need to install the drivers.

That's proving to be a problem. The drivers I've tried to download don't seem to work with 10.8.5. I'm getting a prompt to upgrade to 10.9. This even happens with 313.01.04f01 which the nvidia site says is for 8.5. Nothing's easy. I though the card itself would have whatever software is needed to run it.

Taqke a look at Totte's post again - you need to download and install the cuda driver which is a separate install from the Nvidia driver.

Yes. There was a bit of trial and error on what cuda driver actually works on this configuration, but I finally got the right combo going and now Daz Studio does reveal the card in the render panel. I'm doing some test renders now to really see how much of a speed improvement the card is giving me. Then I'll have to do some Iray learning to master new lighting techniques.
