How do I get Genesis to load properly

I've had issues with this in the past and I know that I am going to have issues with this again, but can someone please post a proper step-by-step way to load Genesis so I don't get the "Files were not found" message again? I like to know where my files are, so I'd prefer to manually install Genesis without the DLC Manager.

Thanks

Jess

Have you told DS where to look where you have installed things - Edit>preferences>content library>content directory manager

Have you downloaded the Genesis Starter Essentials?

It's part of the DAZ Studio package.

Also, you will have to tell DAZ Studio where you installed your content:

I did specify but its not working. Something about the /data/Blah blah blah not being found.

I see that in the tutorial: "The key idea is that the install path and the configuration paths should match up exactly," but I'm working from a peripheral hard drive because I have more space on that. DAZ automatically installed itself on the main hard drive so I don't know if this may have something to do with it.

Did you go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager to see what is listed there under both Poser Formats and DAZ Studio Formats?

Can you please post a screenshot of the Content Directory Manager showing both DAZ Studio and Poser Formats expanded?

It means that the 'data' folder cannot be found, so there is something wrong with the paths in the Content Directory manager

but I’m working from a peripheral hard drive because I have more space on that. DAZ automatically installed itself on the main hard drive so I don’t know if this may have something to do with it.

That wont matter, as long as the correct path is specified.

What operating system are you using?

having the D|S program itself on your normal HD and having your CONTENT on an external hard drive is not the issue. I run the same set up as that with my content being shared by 2 computers.

What they mean by configurations paths matching is under settings in D|S where you tell it "hey my content is in this folder" You need to make sure its looking in the correct place. You'll also want ot make sure those folders are under all 3 content types, DAZ, Poser and other like so:

Issue fixed. Had to reinstall DAZ onto my secondary hard drive though to do it.

If you have solved the problem can you change the title of your thread, to add (Solved) to the end of it, so that anyone else who is experiencing the same problem will see that there is a solution. Thankyou
