Positioning props (SOLVED)

Some props doesn't use the normal x,y,z axes but have there own orientation.
Sometimes that makes them hard to position correctly.
Is there a way to change that so they move along the normal/world x,y,z axes?

Are you talking about props attached to a figure, like a woman's handbag? Sometimes with those (sometimes, but not always), if you de-parent them, you can get them to behave more-or-less normally. But not always.

You don't say which props, perhaps there is a reason for it?

Have you tried setting them to 0,0,0 in the Parameters pane first before moving them, or is that not what you mean? Can you give an example?

Another idea for you: Create a "group" with the prop as the only thing in the group, and accept the option DAZ gives you to parent the object to the group. Then move the group as normal. The group should obey normal X-Y-Z coordinates and rotation rules, and the prop should be forced to move along with the group.

In this case it was the Fantasia Staff from the Fantasia For Genesis 2 Female(s) set. When I tried your solution I realized the problem occured because it was parented to a hand when it was loaded. When I unparented it, the translation tool worked as I wanted. I guess the solution is the same for other props I have had this problem with.

Problem solved. Thanks for pointing out the direction.

Thank you steven. You were right.

    You're welcome!

I had this problem with an over-the-shoulder bag that I wanted to have the character drop. I could not get it to go to the floor. Then I accidentally unparented it and all of a sudden I could move it anywhere. Ah the joys of pure luck...
