I dont know if this is relevant or not but I decided to download 4.8 and buy some content and it gives me a rar file that says templates what is his for? does it need to go in a specific folder? as DIM should install everything does it auto pick up the content?

Templates are needed if you wish to make new textures for the product that you purchased. They contain a copy of the UV map, which you can then work with in the paint program of your choice.

They can be stored anywhere. They are not needed within DS

Presumably, as you have a RAR file, you are talking about 3rd party content, not something that you have purchased from DAZ 3D. DIM will not install 3rd party content, it will only install content from the DAZ 3D store.

Manga Student for Genesis 2 Female(s) (Templates) purchased in Daz and says its 11.33mb but didnt show up in DIM but the other two files did, a little confusing as I am new to using software, it gave me options to down in product library or download and install but the template did not have an option for download and install, is third party content purchased from other websites and compatible with Daz? as I viewed many sites and some you can buy only are used in poser? when I downloaded them from the site they gave me rar files in product library fter I purchased hem on daz site

I dont understand why they would be downloadable if you dont need them with daz, I assume they are for poser? or some other software? I will get round to reading the threads on getting started and view any tutorials that might be available on the forum, but you can download rar files from daz once you purchase the content so I am now confused further?

As already explained, Templates are an optional download and are not required fro the items to work inside DAZ Studio. They are only used if you want to create your own textures with a paint program.

Content designed for Poser can often be used inside DAZ Studio. What is this content exactly?

You need to unzip and install content from other stores by yourself, DIM does not do it for you.

You don't NEED to download Template files, look at the previous explanation please

You don't download RAR files from DAZ 3D, only ZIP files (which are similar) and can be opened with WinRAR of course, but that is what DIM is for. It downloads and installs the content for you.

Zip files sorry I meant sorry I made mistake I said rar and they was zip files, DIM picked them up and downloaded so now I understand I dont have use for template zip file, so when purchasing content DIM auto does the rest? this is great much easier, thank you for the clarity
