Hello,

I've bought a new computer and wanted to install Daz3D and my content with the Manager. The problem was that i don't have enough space on my C: Drive. So I changed all the paths in my Manager configurations. Now I want to put my Daz3D programm with it's content to the D Drive. After the installation it is not possible to use the installed content in Daz3D.

Installation: D:/Program Files/My DAZ 3D Library

Application: 32 Bit - D:/Program Files (86)/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4
64 Bit - D:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4

I don't know what I did wrong. I can't find any threads in the forum for help.

The Manager shows me that the whole content is installed but in Daz it don't work.

Please help me to install Daz3D and my content correctly.

Many thanks in advance.

Greetings

Gordon

You should never put user content into the Program Files area.

Uninstall it again using DIM (only takes a few minutes) and reinstall it to another folder on the same drive. You will have to give DIM the new install location of course, and you will have to tell DS where to find the content in the Content Directory manager as well.

The default on the C drive is C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library so use something similar

Thank you very much for the fast answer. I try it at the moment.

So I uninstalled Daz and my content and createt this folder:

    D:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

Another question: What exactly means the Tab Application? Why are there two different paths for 32 and 64 bit?

    I'm into "short is better".

My software install directories are D:\bits-32 and D:\bits-64; my DIM downloads go into D:\dim-download; and I have three library directories. D:\s4stuff\library - all DIM content installs here; D:\s4stuff\3rd-party - everything else installs here (from Rendo, sharecg, and others); and D\s4stuff\mydata - where I save all my presets, scenes, content I've modified, and other such.

I have all 3 of the D:\s4stuff directories defined in Studio -
    Studio format: D:\s4stuff\mydata
    D:\s4stuff\library
    D:\s4stuff\3rd-party
    Poser format: D:\s4stuff\mydata
    D:\s4stuff\library
    D:\s4stuff\3rd-party

So far I'm eating up about 600 GB of a 1 TB drive and everything works.

There are two paths because all DAZ software installs to \DAZ 3D\ - so if you install both 32-bit and 64-bit Studio they will install to \DAZ 3D\Studio4 and if the two paths are NOT different, you will overlay the first install with the second. That's why I went with D:\bits-32 and D:\bits-64; Studio lives at D:\bits-32\DAZ 3D\Studio4 and D:\bits-64\DAZ 3D\Studio4 (and Bryce is at D:\bits-32\DAZ 3D\Bryce7).

The Application tab is used to tell DIM where to find third-party applications for plugin installations, if you have ZBrush or Photoshop; DIM should automatically put in the paths it used to install Studio, Bryce, and Carrara.

Another issue you might run into. Don't forget to point D|S to the new install path. Otherwise all your content will be missing. It is easy to set up:

Thank you very much for the help! It's absolutely great!

I uninstalled my content and Daz en reinstalled it on:

    Content: D:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library
    Applications: D:\bits-32
    D:\bits-64

    Somehow Daz was installed at: D:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 ????

I changed the old paths in Content Directory Manager like in your Decription Vhardamis, but many content files are searched by old paths like in the C-Directory again.

Are there more settings in Daz to change, or do I have do uninstall again?

    Greetings

The program itself will be in the program file. All the content will be in the folder you created When pathing to the content you need to add a file under all 3 tree for format types.

so Daz studio formats add path to

    D:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

    Poser formats add path to
    D:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

    Other formats add path to
    D:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

This should have everything show up in your content library tab. Bear in mind not all purchase will show under the smart content tab but they should all appear under the Library one as file folders (you may or may not get thumbnails as you expand the folders)

    Hello Vhardamis,

Ok I changed the paths like in your description. Most of my stuff is working fine. But some of the stuff isn't working, especially the stuff shown in my Smart Content Tab. When I double click them, a resource error appears. The old path from C: Drive is shown again. The content isn't also usable in the Library.
It's a little bit strange, because the stuff was correctly installed by the Install manager.
Maybe is there a problem when some of the stuff in the older paths weren't correctly uninstalled?
I really don't know why DAZ is searching some of the stuff in the C: Drive again.

Thank you very much for your help so far!

I searched a little bit at the trouble-shooting pages of Daz3D and found this one:

    https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/22523891-Trouble-shooting-the-Smart-Content-Pane

It helped me to find a solution for the problems.

Reset the Database and Reimport Metadata.

So now I can use my whole content again! :-D

Special thanks to Vhardamis, namffuak and JimmyC_2009. - Your replies were very helpful!
