Just some help really...and some words from the "more Wise" than me!!!
Hi
I just bought from DS "Chaotic Realms" Now I am sure (checked three times on the sales page for it!!) it states there are 40 backgrounds. The only place they appeared is in the content library, but when I click to load a "scene" (background) all I am getting is the lights?????
Have I missed something??????
I see there is the new iray.
Now I ain't good at all this tech stuff...so if it don't automatically load to where it should....I get very nervous!!!!!!!!!!
I don't want to "mess" with what I've got (4.7) so..... .what exactly do I download..is it just the pro beta one..then follow the public build stuff I read somewhere...and what about the 4.5SDK thing!!!!!!! :-)
Is it worth bothering about at this stage as I've read some posts where there are some render freeze issues.
Thanks
Brian

The lights are in Poser format - lt2 - which won't load correctly in DAZ Studio, and certainly won't be useful for Iray. The backgrounds are just image files; they are intended to be loaded via the Environment pane in DS or as backdrops in Poser (I don't think, at the time, that there was an effective way of providing presets to load them from the library). Using the backdrops with Iray will be tricky - your best bet may simply be to use the Surface pane to apply them to a suitably scaled plane and manually position that like a real-world backdrop.
Thank you for the response Richard.
Yes, Iray aside...think I'll leave that for now.
Chaotic realms........
I too "thought" the images would be in the Environments pane, but no, and they are not showing in any of the "files" pane (or products pane for that matter)........but that's the issue...the only place I could find them was in the library and it only loads the lights??
Do you mean Surfaces (color) pane?????.....if so..they are not in there either???
Is it possible it hasn't loaded properly???
Thanks
Brian
They won't show up, you need to navigate to where the textures are. If you right-click on the item in DAZ Install Manager and choose "Show Installed Files" it will show the paths to the files -- it should be something like "Runtime:Textures:Damage Inc:Chaotic Realms"
Hi Brian,
You will not find the images in DS Content manager or smart content.
You will find them in your DAZ content folder on your drive. Here's the location from the README of the product:

EDIT: To use them as a backdrop in DS 4.7, follow this steps:
About DS 4.8: It can only be installed using DIM, and it is installed parallel to your 4.7 version. They do not mess with each other.
The render issues are being worked on, but most renders work fine without being stuck. :-) It creates really great results. However, Iray is a very different horse compared to 3Delight render, and you will have to relearn some things. Also, the 3Delight shaders will not work properly in Iray, due to a difference in technology. DS 4.8 does have an upgraded version of 3Delight, so though, so you can render in both ways.
About DS4.5 SDK, that is a developer's platform, and unless you are intending to start programming plugins for DS, you can just ignore it.
Thank you all
Yes I just found all the above Lee and did a screen shot ...but you beat me to it so don't need that now lol
It's after midnight here so I will check that out tomorrow. Ta
AHHHH so it runs separately then the 4.8...that's good.
Programming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can just about do this to a fashion!!!!!
They are God's...me...... mere mortal!!!! lol
Thanks all!!!!!!
