Character Skins get distorted when shrinking their size.

edited December 1969 in New Users

I have been trying to do some scenes with a Giant and little people. For some reason when I scale a character down to a very small size, (<10)their skin gets all distorted.and color gets dull and grey. Looks like little holes all over as if the skin texture is getting to thin. Even seen the eyelids disappear. making them look like bleeding from around the eyes. Pretty freaky!<br /> Problem occurs with either 3Delight of Reality/Luxrender. All characters do the same thing. I tried several.
Is there an adjustment I can make to correct for this?

Thanks in advance!

You would need to adjust any displacement settings as they are not scaled down/up with the figure scale and relate to a physical dimension rather than a value based off the figure.

Displacement can cause problems when you shrink characters, because the displacement doesn't shrink. Try going to the Surfaces tab and selecting all of your character's surfaces and change displacement strength to 0.

Edit: I type too slowly. Razor 42 beat me to it. :-)

If the figure uses an SSS shader you may well also need to adjust the SSS scale, making sure that all surfaces with the same group ID use the same value (use the Surface Selection tool to right-click on a surface in the viewport, then Select Surfaces with Value and select GroupID from the drop-down list).

OK. I'm still not having any luck here. Not sure if I'm doing this right?
If I select my character and go to "Surfaces Tab" then select the characters "Surfaces" I have three choices. 1 - Displacement Strength (Its only selection is choose map). Clicking on it brings up a shitload of files to load. 2 - Minimum Displacement, 3 - Maximum Displacement. Both of these have question marks in them. I set them both to Zero. No difference.
    Am I doing something wrong?

    Kind Regards.
