New Daz 4.8 User, Iray Renders End Up With Lots of Noise, Small Dots Everywhere, picture included...

Hi, I was wondering what I need to adjust so that the render will actually "finish" to the point to where I can see any detail on the people's face. I am Daz 4.8 Beta using Iray I just have the environment settings put to default. Does anyone know how to adjust what I want?
Thanks.

Under Progressive Rendering
There are 3 things that stop a render in Iray (whichever happens first will stop the render)
2 hour time limit
Convergent Ratio of 95%
Max Samples of 5000 I believe is the last one
You need to watch your render and find which one it's hitting first and up that value to make the render go longer.
Thanks for the info, my render sat at 0 percent for 5 hours then just stopped. The computer hadn't been touched at all during that time. Do you think the 5 hour time is accurate? If I increase the 5000to say 10000 would that increase the quality as well?
That sounds like a common bug where Iray will finish but not close and just keep counting away while not really doing anything.
Are you using your graphics card or CPU?
I'm using the cpu on my laptop. I'm working on building a desktop with a geforce card but it's not ready yet.
Did the iterations change at all during that time? If not, then you might have to try a different camera angle or hope that nVidia gets their fix released soon (just read that they created a fix and are in the process of testing it)
I'm not 100percent sure but I think the iterations went up as the render did its thing. Would the fix come as a 4.8 update or in another form do you have any clue Lol?
Pretty sure bet it's going to be an update for 4.8 before 4.8 gets out of beta.
If the iterations were going up, then it may have just simply hit the 2hr limit but didn't close down properly. I would try adding a half hour or so and see if that helps. Since it's grainy, I don't think it hit it's convergence or max sample limit.
Ok I will play around with those when I get to my computer. Thank you for the tips. Do you have any examples of your work available for viewing online? I'm curious to see other people's stuff who actually know what they are doing.
I wouldn't really say I know what I'm doing, just passing along what little I've learned so far.
I've got a couple of Iray works in the March and April New User Contests
You can also try rendering at a smaller image size first, to see if the render completes properly.
I had problems rendering iray images above a certain size, which worked fine at a smaller size.
.
5 minutes is not long enough for an Iray render if you are only using CPU, even a simple scene will take up to an hour, depending on the scene and you machine specs.
.
Watch your render progress How many iterations does it hit when it stops? (it's obviously not hitting the 2hr mark so we can rule that one out)
.
It shows it here while rendering
.
And that's when it's just about to finish? Well it's definitely not hitting the 5,000 mark. So the only thing left to change would be the convergent rate.
so go into your Render Settings and into Progressive Rendering
Where it says Rendering Converged Ratio, change it from 95% to 100% (or higher which requires clicking on the gear icon and unchecking "Use Limits")
.
Ahh, you're set on 3Delight, not Iray.
Check your "Engine" at the top
.
.
Are you on Daz 4.8? That beta version has the Iray rendering added.
.
So you don't have Iray then. You will need to adjust your 3Delight settings
I usually use
Bucket size of 8
Max ray Trace Depth of 1 or 2
Pixel Samples X/Y of 10
Shadow Samples of 10
Gamma 0.75
Shading rate of 0.01
Pixel Filter Width X/Y 32
Then I adjust the Pixel Samples Shading Rate and Pixel Filters as/if needed
4.8 installs parallel to 4.7. but you have to install it by DIM.
It is the BETA version currently in public testing. Here's the current Beta version's thread:

It looks as if you are using a lighting set using uberEnvironment. If you find the omniFreaker\uberEnironment 2 folder under Light presets in the Content Library then there are quality settings - try using the best of those with the uberEnironment light selected in the scene and see how you get on.
If you use decent UberEnvironment settings your shading rate doesn't nee to be as low as 0.01 I usually use 0.2 or 0.5.
Render settings I usually use are
Bucket size of 16
Max ray Trace Depth of 1 or 2
Pixel Samples X/Y of 12
Shadow Samples of 24
Gamma 2.2 if on - I usually leave this off
Shading rate of 0.2 or 0.5
Pixel Filter Width X/Y 8
