100% CPU, GPU near idle on Iray render on GTX1070/8GB nv driver 446 win1064pro DS 4.12

And notably slower. Was fine a couple day ago, no idea what has changed, I tried Studio driver and now back to Game Ready.

What I absolutely cannot find in all of Daz' settings and menu is something like "Hardware", if someone could give a hint there in general.

    1) Does this happen on a very basic render? A single primitive with a texture, light and camera.

    2) Make sure your render settings are correct: Render Settings -> Advanced -> Devices (which ever you render photoreal or interactive) make sure the GPU is selcted and the CPU isn't.

    3) Check the Nvidia control panel: Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings -> Daz Studio -> CUDA - GPU's -> Use Global Settings (All)

If 1 still fails and 2 and 3 are not somehow an issue let us know.

    1: yes

2: yes, default was "all on", I set them to your suggestions, CPU both off and even CPU fallback diabled, restarted program, same result.

3: that was the setting I found there anyway.

I had a look at the log meanwhile and it speaks of "memory allocation errors"

2020-05-31 02:16:05.444 WARNING: ..\..\..\..\..\src\pluginsource\DzIrayRender\dzneuraymgr.cpp(353): Iray [ERROR] - IRAY:RENDER ::   1.2   IRAY   rend error: CUDA device 0 (GeForce GTX 1070): out of memory (while allocating memory)

Card has 8GB, can't see why it would not alloc couple hundred MB.

The numbers reported in the log is meaningless.

If the basic scene renders and your scene falls back to CPU then it is too big.

Make sure you haven't left previous render windows open. They take up memory until the render window is closed, Close the render windows either by saving the render or just closing the window without saving the render.

Install and use GPU-Z to see how much of your GPU memory is in use.

If you have been using Iray viewport preview, sometimes it helps to close and restart Daz Studio before doing a render to a file.

It happens after a fresh boot with a basic scene rendered after only viewing it in "texture shaded". I much bigger scene ("Rustic Well" with Actor) plus HDRI rendered fine a few days ago.

I logged a ticket, we'll see what we can work out.
