Can't change material for XDress

Struck by "Smart Content" again, but I'll bet I'm probably doing something wrong.

The pic says it all. I can load the dress onto Girl 6 but I cannot change it to a color other than its default silver. I'm trying to use the materials in the Smart Content screen as shown on the pic below.

Ideas appreciated...

    Select JUST the XDress in the SCENE tab and Then apply the Material. If that does not work try this...
    Select just the XDress in the Scene Tab and select the XDress in the Surfaces Tab and then apply the texture.

    Also remember SOME shaders only look right when RENDERED not in the Viewport.

    When you select the X-Dress, the Smart Content pane should change to show only Animations, Materials and Utilities. With that said, click the material you want with the dress selected and it should apply the shader.

    I just tried the X-Dress on G2F and all the materials options work fine.

    You just have to select the dress before you apply them.

    As a User that does not use SMART my info still applies....

    After a fair bit of fussing around, it finally loaded. Not certain what I did wrong or what I did correctly to fix it. Oh well.

    Now I'm looking for a pair of shoes to go with her dress. Nobody told me about that part; having to dress these girls and learn how to coordinate ladies' clothing!
