Difference between a .DUF and .DAZ file?

I sometimes find two files of the same item in my Content Library. Does it make a difference which one I'm using? I'm working in Daz 4.6 on a Mac. Thanks.

.DUF (DAZ Universal Format) is for DS4.5 and above. .DAZ is for DS3 and DS4 but DS4.6 can open the DAZ format for the most part.

Yeah use DUF when you can.
