Genesis 2 female and addons won't load in Poser Pro 2014 since update
I added a lot of Genesis 2 content to my library (all installed into an external runtime, I load everything in a genesis folder. I know that some of the new stuff needed DSON updated (at least I think it did) anyway, I don't know if I need to install things in a certain order, but now when I try to load Genesis 2 female or any of the others (V6 etc.) it acts like it loads but I don't see a figure.
I made sure I installed DSON, genesis 2 starter essentials, and V6 all over again to make sure they were updated. Because I wasn't sure if it was part of the problem, I installed all of the stuff (except DSON which needs to be in the program folder) into the genesis runtime I have but also into the program folder where DSON is and tried loading it there. I installed both the poser files and the regular files and all into these poser folders, because I know sometimes you still have to load the DS files to get it to work in poser.
I'm using Poser Pro 2014 version 9.03, I didn't update Poser because I know sometimes the new version I read about new problems.
Genesis 2 and V6 worked fine before so it's something on the reinstall. Please help!
ETA: I just noticed there was an error log windo popping up I didn't notice because it was behind the main window. This is what it says when I try to load Genesis 2 Female:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "H:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 2014\Runtime\libraries\Character\DAZ People\Genesis 2 Base Female.py", line 1, in
import dson.dzdsonimporter
File "H:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 2012\Runtime\Python\addons\dson\__init__.py", line 3, in
ImportError: No module named dzdsonimporter
Do I have to uninstall from PP2012?
Comments
You should be able to have the DSON Importer installed for both applications, but check to see if you in fact have H:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 2012\Runtime\Python\addons\dson\ with files on your system
If you're using Win7/8/Vista, having the content in Program Files will cause problems, as that hierarchy is protected.
Sigh...
I just royally screwed up. Evidently for some reason I was loading Poser Pro 2012 which I was wondering why it was looking for the file there. Only the one .py file was there so I copied the dson folder contents from Poser Pro 2014 and now it works in 2012. Problem is now PP 2014 keeps crashing! I'm going to try reinstalling it later and see if that fixes the problem. I read someone said it does that if you update IE, which I saw earlier today updated on its own without asking:(
There are updates at Smith Micro for both PP2012 and PP2014 to deal with the IE 11 issue.
