How can i use UV map form Zbrush into daz?

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hay,
can i make a UV map in Zbrush for a rigged model in daz and use the UV map i made in Zbrush in daz?

the reason is i want to use displacement maps to get the detailed i curved in the sub-divided model on the low divided model in daz. and in order to get this displacement maps and it has to be made according to the UV i made.

otherwise, is there a way to get the UV maps from Daz into zbrush ?
then i'll be able to do the same thing but with the original UVs from Daz.

ZBrush reads in DS UVs, but it doesn't read in Mat (surfaces in DS) so you don't have an immediate way to split the maps down. You can create Mat zones from UV Islands in ZBrush, or instead of using GoZ you can export as OBJ from DS (using, say, the modo preset), then in ZBrush Preferences>ImportExport>Import turn off the import polygroups option and turn on Mats as Polygroups.

thanks alot for the help, but sry I didn't quit get it,
pretty new here and i'm not familier with the term Mat Zones

the problem is that i have an item in daz that have rigging put no surface or color, what i need is to send it to Zbrush ,subdiv it, and then make a displacement map based on the UV of this item that i got to Zbrush from daz.

so how do i know the rigged item have UV?
and if there is a UV how can i get it?

Ah, I thought you were using an existing figure or prop which would already be mapped. If it isn't mapped, then you need to replace the geometry with the mapped geometry - Edit>Figure>Geometry>Update Base Geometry... will I think do what you need.

Thanks that seems like what i want,

but bear with me pleas, what should i do exactly?
I'll load the item in daz and select it , then i'll go file-> send to Zbrush, and in Zbrush i'll change the shape of the item and poly paint it, after that i,ll make a UV map using the UV master plugin and make a displacement map based on the UVmap i made using the UVmaster. now what should i do?
should i press on GoZ in Zbrush to send the item back to Daz?
or should i export the item and it's maps from Zbrush to some place first?

    Sorry for the longs questions,

You would need to export the maps to disc, but if you use GoZ to go back to DS there should be options to update the UVs in the dialogue that opens on return.

Thanks alot i did it finnaly , but i couldn't update the UV directly from GoZ, i'd to save the mesh from Zbrush and Edit-->figure-->Geometry --> Load UV set , and load it from the saved figure. and i couldn't find Edit-->figure-->Geometry --> Update Base Geometry too. but at last it works thanks alot Richard.
