What is the Iray preview window?

I hear about this a lot but don’t understand where or how to find or use this window.

    Edit: You don't need to open in the main view window; you can open another view window or some very small view window for it.

    A lot of people open the Auxiliary Viewport pane and set that to Iray. If you shrink the pane down then the preview will run fairly quickly. Note, though, that if you're using a multiple-window Viewport, or not looking through the Default Camera, you must make sure the Aux Viewport settings are the same as in the main Viewport.
