Some questions of How to install content in DAZ Studio!

I am little confused about installing content in DAZ Studio!
Most of the time I got it right and some time not!

I bought The Ministry from Stonemason!
There are 3 different kind of files and format to use.
With the extension of DS, PS and Legacy!

Earlier you should install both DS and DPC
and all installer and I never heard of Legacy!

I know some content works for DAZ and some for Poser!
Sometimes even Poser works in DAZ and some Poser
content does not!

I do manual install and not the Install Manager!
I installed the DS files firs but could not load it up in DAZ!
I uninstall the DS files and then the PS instead and all seems to work!

Is DPC files same as PS files?
Shall I install both of them?
What is Legacy and should I use it?

The last question I have is that sometimes
there are additional files you find under "Resource files"
mostly some kind of Texture files!
Do you need them or how do you install them?

For the, "The Ministry"there are two additional files
with format like .exe and .sit
I don't know what .sit stands for and how to use it!

I have read the tutorials about How to install DAZ Studio and
also content to DAZ Studio! Thumbs up for them!

That was my thoughts and questions!
Thanks in advance!

Alf

Legacy files are for older version of DAZ Studio, if you are using DS4.5 or above, you don't need them.

SIT files, are Stuffit expander files, and are for the Mac users only.

The EXE files are usually Windows installers, but I don't know why you would have ZIPS and EXE installers, it is more usual to have one or the other.

Where are you seeing the Resource files? If it is on the Product Page, then these are Templates so that you can create your own textures if you want to, they are not 'required' for anything to work.

    Thanks!

Most of the answers is done!
The recourses files are on the product page and in this case
from the page for The Ministry!

    I use DAZ Studio 4.6

PS is that the same as DPC?

    File name to download
    The Ministry DS
    The Ministry PS

Do I need to install both of them?

    File name to download
    The Ministry DS
    The Ministry PS

Do I need to install both of them?

What sizes are the two files?

If they are near enough the same size, then just install the DS one for DAZ Studio. If the DS one is much smaller, then you will need to install them both.

On the Product Page it says :

    Notes
There is a complete Poser installer and a complete D|S installer.

It looks like you only need the DS one to get all the files that you require.

You really should look at using the DIM (DAZ Install Manager) to at least download all of your files. You don't need to install using the DIM if you don't want to, but you can use it to download the correct files. In the DIM, there is a filter so that you can set it to download DS4.5+ only, DS and Poser, Poser only etc etc. That would take the guess work out of it for you.

    The Ministry DS is 29.01MB
    The Ministry PS is 30.55MB

As mention on my first post on this thread I only installed the DS version first but I could not load it up!
Uninstall the DS version and only installed PS and that worked!

According to the knowledge base on DAZ website you shall install both DS and DPC files!
format but for the set "The Ministry there is no DPC files, only PS!

Does anyone knows if DPC and PS are same or not?

    Yes DPC are poser files.

If the DS and PS files are of equal size or thereabouts like the Ministry, as Jimmy said above. then you only need the DS files. If a product comes with a DS file that has a very small files size then it is most likey just Daz Studio material presets and therefore you do need to install the PS files which holds the Geometry etc.

So how did you try to load the DS version of the Ministry. Please give the exact process that you tried. It works for me.

What I did was to extract the zip files first and then had
a look in the extracted folder!
I install it manual in my DAZ Studio folder exact it was done in
the extracted folder! I follow the tree structure and installed
in the same way in my DAZ folder! But could not find it and
load it up in DAZ! I uninstall in the manual way!

I used the same method for the PS files
and then I find it and could load it up!

OK first off never extract directly to your content folder, always extract to a dummy folder and then copy and paste from there to your content folder. This is to avoid having a folder called Content getting installed in to the My Library folder. Everything in the Content folder that is part of the zipped file needs to go in to My Library folder.

Also spend some time looking inside the zipped folders to see how things are organised. That will give you cluse to what goes where. Then all you need to do is make you only copy the folders you need.

I did not extract it direct to my content folder!
I did it on my desk top first and then use the method
with copy and paste to correct folders in the content
folders in DAZ Studio! Into My library folder as well!

I think there is an issue with my DAZ spooking around for me
so I might have to reinstall it! If I don't remember wrong I guess
I find the Stonemason folder but it was empty and nothing to load
    up! :(

I think I got all answers now so thanks
    for all help!

Good so you sound like you know what you are doing which is nice to see.

My Ministy DS formats show up in the Content Library Pane (Not Smart Content Pane) under Daz Studio Formats > My Library > Props > Stonemason > as shown below.
