export fbx - increase poly count

edited July 2013 in New Users

i used to always export my daz figure as .obj and the poly count was always fine, very detailed.
now that i've started experimenting with animation i need to export as .fbx, to use in 3dsmax, but this gives a model with a much lower poly count.

is there a way to control the poly count of the model when exporting? or maybe a different solution?

thanks!!

OBJ takes a snapshot, in effect, including the SubD applied to the model. Because it's meant to be usable still the FBX does not bake the SubD - but you should be able to apply native SubD (a Smoothing Modifier, I think, in 3DS) to the imported figure.
