Character creation from scratch
Hi guys. I've been making 3D models and characters with Blender3D for about a year now. I recently decided to focus on character design, so i downloaded daz studio. It's a great time saver, to say the least. However, the lack of decent documentation on it makes even the simplest of tasks very frustrating.
I'm sure someone has figured it out already and i'm sure many people have asked the question before. How do u import your own characters into Daz Studio and make morphs, clothes, etc for them? I'd also like to know how to import animal or other non-human characters.

You make the morphs and clothes in your modeling program, you rig the them in Studio.
I see... so could u please shed more light on the "rigging" part? Is it possible to rig a character from scratch completely in Daz Studio? and how?
or could u just point me to a tutorial or document of some sort?
I found a work around. It's really uncomfortable however. It involves applying my model to the genesis figure as a clothing item.
I have a huge library of models already rigged in blender. Rigging them all over again and weight mapping them will cancel out the time-saving advantage of daz studio. Is there a better way of doing this?
On the technical stuff I can't help, in fact I would say you know more than I do as I only use Blender for modeling. May I ask what time saving advantages do you mean?
If it's not a morph, and a completely separate figure altogether:

He has more tutorials @ http://www.youtube.com/user/rbtwhiz/videos which include editing an existing skeleton and using the joint editor tools.
If it is a Genesis morph (or morph of any other charcter), try the auto-rig feature (morph obviously has to be for the same figure you're rigging from):

Also, I am not sure if it is the best way to go, but since rigging seems to be the biggest problem you have, you might want to have a look at the character pipeline: http://www.daz3d.com/iclone5-facial-pipeline-power-bundle
It's definitely rather expensive, but if you are willing to save the time to rerig everything, maybe it would be your choice.
